Yin Yoga & Thai Massage for Chest & Shoulders

Yin Yoga & Thai Massage for Chest & Shoulders

Our first hip focused Yin & Thai Massage workshop went beautifully so we’ve come together to offer two more! August and September!

This two hour workshop is brought to you by yoga instructor Kacy Harnedy and Megan Gallagher, LMT

Kacy will lead you through several yin postures specifically designed to help open the chest and shoulders as Megan makes her way around to each practitioner and assists with Thai massage. Our shoulders store a lot of energy and built up emotion, we use Yin yoga to chip away these layers and add Thai massage to bring relaxation and resiliency back into the joints and tissues.

Please arrive in comfortable, loose clothing and be ready to relax!

What is Yin Yoga?

According to Yin master, Josh Summers, Yin Yoga is a complementary yoga practice to the more dynamic and invigorating yoga styles that are predominant today. Some call it the “other half of yoga.” In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access a safe and positive ‘stress’ on the deep layers of connective tissue in the body. Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints, primarily between the navel and the knees. Energetically, Yin Yoga opens the body’s meridian system, which enhances the body’s energetic flow and supports emotional equilibrium.

What is Thai Massage?

Traditional Thai massage is an ancient healing system, dating back 2000+ years, that utilizes stretching, pulling, rocking techniques, and assisted yoga positions to relieve tension and enhance flexibility and range of motion.

The therapist uses his or her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches and also applies deep muscle compression, joint mobilization, and acupressure.

It helps detoxification of the body and boosts the immune system

Improves posture, balance corrects body alignments and dissolves energy blockages

Helps arthritis and back pain

Helps tone the body, strengthen joints and fight diseases, including chronic joint problems

Increase in range of motion

Decrease in muscle tension

Increased body awareness

Let it Fall Away: Flow to let go

Let it Fall Away: Flow to let go

Honoring change is vital for our deeper understanding of ourselves. We must change and let things fall off and regrow in order to help us evolve as humans.

The beauty of the Fall season is that it’s the beginning of the end of this earth cycle

Every season is a reminder that nothing lasts forever. Everything has a moment of creation and destruction, but all are equally beautiful and majestic in nature. All seasons have their reasons and if one season decided to stop happening, the rest of the earth would go out of sync.

We’ll flow with mindful breath and grace to promote release and regrowth energetically and spiritually.

Winter Solstice Restore & Reiki: Making Peace with the Darkness

Winter Solstice Restore & Reiki: Making Peace with the Darkness

$50 or $45 for Yoga on York members

Join us for our Winter Solstice Restorative Yoga & Reiki! Relax, reduce stress and process on Winter Solstice, the longest & darkest day of the year. When we fear our own darkness or discourage negative feelings, we cut ourselves off from the source of our own personal power. The key is not in letting darkness overwhelm our lives and thoughts but in understanding that negativity can be one of the greatest catalysts for personal growth and transformation.

By allowing ourselves to feel our negative emotions and experience our own darkness, the darkness itself can become the guide into which our inner light and new life is born. Sink into gentle, relaxing Restorative poses while receiving subtle hands-on Reiki healing. The light healing touch of Reiki combined with Restorative yoga can help relieve stress and restore your mind, body and spirit. All levels welcome! With Kacy Harnedy, RYT 200 & Nicole Green, Reiki Master.
