Yin Yoga with Thai Massage
Saturday June 15th 5:30-7:30pm
Yoga on York
This two hour workshop is brought to you by yoga instructor Kacy Harnedy and Megan Gallagher, LMT
Kacy will lead you through several yin postures specifically designed to help open the front and back of the hips as Megan makes her way around to each practitioner and assists with Thai massage. Our hips store a lot of energy and built up emotion, we use Yin yoga to chip away these layers and add Thai massage to bring relaxation and resiliency back into the joints and tissues.
Please arrive in comfortable, loose clothing and be ready to relax!
What is Yin Yoga?
According to Yin master, Josh Summers, Yin Yoga is a complementary yoga practice to the more dynamic and invigorating yoga styles that are predominant today. Some call it the “other half of yoga.” In Yin Yoga, floor postures are held passively for several minutes in order to access a safe and positive ‘stress’ on the deep layers of connective tissue in the body. Physically, Yin Yoga restores and maintains the natural mobility of the joints, primarily between the navel and the knees. Energetically, Yin Yoga opens the body’s meridian system, which enhances the body’s energetic flow and supports emotional equilibrium.
What is Thai Massage?
Traditional Thai massage is an ancient healing system, dating back 2000+ years, that utilizes stretching, pulling, rocking techniques, and assisted yoga positions to relieve tension and enhance flexibility and range of motion.
The therapist uses his or her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches and also applies deep muscle compression, joint mobilization, and acupressure.
